House of Commons event debates digital inclusion

Chris Holland today spoke at the House of Commons launch of the Carnegie UK Trust report "Across the Divide" about digital exclusion in Glasgow, hosted by Ann McKechin MP.
Chris highlighted the Panel's Bridging the Gap: Sustaining Online Engagement research and the Panel's belief that, unless fundamental action is taken, the digital divide risks becoming a digital gulf as the distance increases between those who are online and those who remain firmly anchored in the offline world.
He stressed the Panel's recommendations in this area which include digital engagement and usage being on an equal footing with broadband roll out and speed in respect of policy and funding.
