The industry usually terms it next generation access; the media often calls it super fast broadband. Next generation broadband will deliver greater bandwidth, reliability and speed (above 25 Mbit/s and up to around 100 Mbit/s) to people's businesses and homes than is capable of delivery by the traditional copper telephone network. This means the development of a new telecommunications infrastructure. It will bring new services and products and we are working closely with government, policy makers and community organisations to ensure that next generation broadband is rolled out across the UK as quickly as possible – and including those areas which would not be served if left to the market alone.
