Numbering

The integrity of number ranges is essential so that consumers know what the cost of a call is to a number, whether it is from a fixed line or a mobile. We have seen consumers confused and annoyed as to why freephone 0800 numbers are free to call from a fixed line but cost from a mobile. We will continue to work on this issue to ensure consumers have confidence in the number range, particularly as convergence will only exacerbate this issue.
